Get The Look:
Everyone has packed up their summer gear and moved right on to all black. I walked past buffalo exchange in Williamsburg the other day, there was a line almost out of the door with some Brooklyn-ers trying to sell their summer stuff (little do they know Buffalo exchange only accepts clothes for the current season.
Naturally we all tone it down a bit when it comes to color during Fall. Fall is know for its traditional colors like navy blue, browns and black. Most people my age have mastered the art of wearing all black all year, yes even leather jackets and boots in the summer (don’t ask).
Heres 3 ways to keep color alive during Fall/winter:
Purchase a brighter jacket or coat. You probably have about 5 black jacket already? If you have the basic black jacket and coat, go out and get color! Another great thing is that since most people lean toward a darker color, your size might always be available, better yet, on sale!
Mixed these Fall/Winter boots in with the bright blazer and you’re all set. Any other shoe would get confusing. You don’t want to throw on a white sneaker, you may look like you still belong in the season before. Although, Im not judging if you can pull it off.
Floral and prints:
Keep them both alive! Flowers and plants usually wither in the fall but doesn’t mean you cant wear them again. Here you see the floral tie but not quite the summer Hawaiian floral, its actually very subtle making it easy to wear all year around.
Buying out of season:
Woops..I know I said 3 but this one is a bonus. Buying out of season is the perfect solution for keeping color alive during the winter. Do you see summer long sleeve shirts on sale because they are ‘summer clothes’ purchase them it you like them. Its on sale and you probably wont see anyone else with the same style since everyone has their nose into winter clothes.
Keep a look out for my Get – The – Look post this week on where you can find this look or similar and the actual breakdown of each detail. Until then, be inspired.
